Governance
Since 1916, the Village of Drummond has been a Special Taxing District of Maryland, led by a three-person Village Council (formerly the Citizens Committee) elected each year on the first Monday of May for one-year terms. The Council approves the annual budget, oversees the Village Right-of-way, approves all contracts for services, reviews and approves building permits, and makes laws. Each Council Member takes on a role as Mayor, Treasurer or Secretary to divide duties. All Drummond residents 18 or older are eligible to vote in Village elections and run for office.
Â
The Council meets monthly and holds two Village-wide meetings in the fall and spring. These meetings are open to the public, and all residents are encouraged to attend. The agenda for each annual meeting is sent out by email to residents several weeks prior to the meeting. The Council is assisted by a part-time Village Manager.
